Acupuncture

TONG ZE BU TONG; BU TONG ZE TONG.

— HUANG DI NEI -

Taken from the Huang Di Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic. Circa 2600BC). The oldest and most comprehensive Classical Chinese medical texts. The above quote is considered to be one of the defining principles of acupuncture. Roughly translated into English as:

“If there is free flow, there is no pain; if there is pain, there is lack of free flow.”

Chinese medicine and acupuncture (with moxa, cupping and herbal medicine) are having somewhat of a renaissance. With an abundance of clinical studies in the past 10 years confirming the safety and effectiveness in treating general health and a vast array of health issues.

Recognised for more than 2000 years, pain has always been with us. At the very core accupuncture is designed for the support and treatment of pain.

Acute injuries, chronic pain and chronic health issues, chemo therapy, and side effects from other medications, mental well being, the process of dying well, are all areas we can support.

Fundamentally, the power of Chinese medicine is the ability to fine tune the balance of our being, regardless of the concern.

What to expect in one of Anny’s sessions

Each session begins with a discussion of your health concerns, getting to know you and establishing an environment of trust. Anny takes notes for her reference and potential research.

Taking your pulse and looking at your tongue is an important part of the consult. Reading both pulse and tongue offer further insight into your current state of being and offer a guide for the direction of the treatment.

Great care is taken for your comfort. Laying on the treatment table you are warm, bolstered and relaxed. Shiatsu involves pressure and possibly some movement of your limbs. The intention is to release tightness or blockages through the system in order for your energy flow more smoothly.

Where necessary, acupuncture is applied and left for anywhere between 10-20 minutes.

The experience is relaxing for body and mind, often allowing you to drift off. When you leave you are refreshed with the feeling of being reset and ready to face the world.
