Let It Simmer, Let It Go
I love this tea and would love to share it with you.
Chinese red dates, cinnamon and fresh ginger, simmered together.
Simple to make, deliciously sweet and the making of it can be part of the medicine.
How to make it
3 or 4 red dates
6 to 8 slices of fresh ginger
1 cinnamon stick
1 litre water
Bring it to boil then simmer gently for 30 to 40 minutes.
You can add more water after drinking. All ingredients have more to give.
While it simmers
It's a perfect time to move your body.
It's in these moments of waiting that incidental movement can create such a difference. With or without music, allow your body to move. No doubt whatever activity you've been busy with, your body has been held in some kind of shape.
More and more I'm just loving these moments of freedom. Several minutes of letting my body move, not exercise, not stretching, not thoughts of what I should fix or strengthen. A kind of unwinding. Not having to wait until I have a whole hour or go to a class.
Movement for movement sake, unofficial and just for me.
Why tea, why unwind
In Chinese medicine, red dates nourish blood and calm the spirit, ginger and cinnamon bring warmth and movement to circulation. The Liver is the system most affected by frustration, stress and being stuck sitting or in places that drain us. When the liver is under pressure, energy has less room to move freely.
Let your tea warm and move you, inside and out.
