You Are the Space You've Been Looking For
Whether you are a mother, were mothered, or carry that lineage in your bones, this is for you.
A moment to pause, turn inward, and remember just how extraordinary you already are.
I've mentioned reading The Extended Mind by Annie Murphy Paul, a book steeped in research about what the body actually does without our knowing.
Our body is not an obstacle or something to manage or override.
The body, your body is one of the most sophisticated instruments of intelligence we have access to.
One study in particular is so relevant. Children with ADHD spent 20 minutes in nature and their capacity to focus, regulate and function shifted measurably. Equal to or surpassing the effect of medication.
Twenty minutes. No intervention. Just environment.
"The body is not an instrument of the mind. It is the mind, sensing, knowing, orienting us toward what we need before a single conscious thought forms." Annie Murphy Paul
Furthermore, research on high pressure trading floors, environments we assume run on calculation or logic, found that the most successful traders were those most attuned to their bodily sensations.
Not the most analytical. The most felt.
Your body is doing this for you right now. Reading the room. Sensing the field. Knowing, before you know.
"The heart contains over 40,000 sensory neurons. It does not just respond to the brain. It sends more signals up than it receives. It is always, already, speaking." HeartMath Institute
For mothers, for all people, this is a priority. So much of how we live asks us to override this intelligence. To push through. To manage the environment around us rather than be nourished by it.
What if we dared to know our nervous systems, our energy, our capacity to receive love and relate had more to do with how we honour ourselves over what is expected of us?
What if the environment you place yourself in was one of the most powerful medicines available to you?
Annie Murphy Paul's research reveals that nature is not simply a pleasant backdrop to our lives. It is an active scaffold for how we think, feel and function. When we step into it, something in us remembers.
If something here speaks to you, you can work with me in person at my clinic in Preston and at The Yin Palace gatherings in Melbourne, or online through my qigong community and Rage Rising. The Three Treasures Pathway is offered both in person and online.
